BC Out of Jurisdiction Certificate
What is it?
In order to meet the workplace first aid legislation for the Province of BC, WorkSafe BC has implemented an application process for accepting the credentials of workers trained or certified in other Canadian provinces and territories. The out of jurisdiction certificate bridges your Red Cross first aid training with the workplace health and safety requirements of B.C. The out of jurisdiction certificate is linked to your valid, not expired, first aid certificate. For examples of certificate equivalencies, see the Worksafe BC page.
Do I need it?
If you work in the province of B.C., you may need your B.C. Out of Jurisdiction certificate. If you’re not certain, check with your employer!
What will I get?
You will receive a self-study manual that will teach you important workplace health & safety information about workplaces in B.C. You will also receive your out of jurisdiction certificate which allows you to work in B.C.
