BC Out of Jurisdiction Certificate

What is it?

In order to meet the workplace first aid legislation for the Province of BC, WorkSafe BC has implemented an application process for accepting the credentials of workers trained or certified in other Canadian provinces and territories. The out of jurisdiction certificate bridges your Red Cross first aid training with the workplace health and safety requirements of B.C. The out of jurisdiction certificate is linked to your valid, not expired, first aid certificate.

The BC Out of Jurisdiction package has a OFA Level 1 equivalency (Standard/Intermediate or Emergency/Basic First Aid with CPR/AED Level C).

For examples of certificate equivalencies, see the Worksafe BC page.

Do I need it?

If you work in the province of B.C., you may need your B.C. Out of Jurisdiction certificate. If you’re not certain, check with your employer!

What will I get?

You will receive a self-study manual that will teach you important workplace health & safety information about workplaces in B.C. You will also receive your out of jurisdiction certificate which allows you to work in B.C.

IMPORTANT NOTE

You are responsible for having a Standard or Emergency First Aid certificate from an approved agency. If you purchase a BC package and submit a certificate that is expired, not from an approved training agency, or is not Emergency or Standard First Aid, we will not issue a BC certificate.
  • If you request a refund, there is a $5.00 processing fee.
  • If you take an approved EFA/SFA course we will keep your payment on file to issue your BC certificate afterwards.
